Vastu Dosha

Vastu PurushaVaastu Introduction
From Divine Rudraksha

Vaastu is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘dwelling’ or a building used for residential purposes. The first mention of Vaastu is found in the Yajurveda, the ancient text of Hindus believed to be over 4000 years old. They cover a wide variety of buildings like places of worship, marriage houses, party houses, palaces and chariots and dwellings. The first book on this subject is believed to have been written about 3000 years back by saint Vishwakarma.

What is Vaastu ?Any piece of land and structure built on it is known as ‘Vastu’. It has been derived from the word ‘Vaas’ which means to live. It’s practice started with Vedic period. We can find many references in Vedas, Puranas and other subsequent literature.

Our ancient saints have concluded that anything living or non-living in the universe is made up of five basic elements or Panch Maha Bhoot. They are Prithvi (earth), Jal (water), Agni (fire), Vayu (air) and Aakash (space). When these five elements are in harmony in our body, we are healthy and active and when their equilibrium is disturbed one is devitalized or unhealthy. The same is true with our place of living or work.

Vastu is the only science which instructs how to maintain best equilibrium of these five elements in a building and make best use of them to energize mental and physical energies of inhabitants to the maximum extent. In other words vaastu tells us how to make use of these five elements for the maximum convenience, comfort and security keeping them in perfect harmony in our home or place of work so that one should enjoy health, wealth, prosperity and growth.

Legend of Vaastu Purusha

Lord Shiva had killed a devil named Andhak after a long war which had continued for years. A spirit originated out of the perspiration of Lord Shiva and consumed all the blood from the body of the devil. His hunger was still not satisfied. He then undertook penance. Lord Shiva was impressed and highly satisfied by his penance and offered him a “Vara” that he can eat anybody he likes. The spirit then went wild and started eating men and animals. This terrified even the Gods in heaven and to conquer him the various deities representing the various directions sat on his back making it impossible for him to get up. When the spirit asked for forgiveness Lord Brahma offered him a blessing that: “After building any structure, the people who offer you prayers and worship you as Vaastudevta will be blessed with pleasures and prosperity. However those people, who do not offer you prayers shall be at your mercy and you may trouble them in any way”. As the head of the Purusha is in Northeast, the northeast of the plot therefore should be kept vacant.

Vastu Dosha and Remedies
From Vaastu Shastra

Vaastu considered the interplay of various forces of nature involving the five elements of earth, water, wind, fire and ether, and strives to maintain equilibrium as these elements influence, guide and change the living styles of not only human beings but every living being on earth. Thus they influence our deeds, luck, behavior and other basics of life.

Vastu Shastra is the sublime elucidation of your surrounding and their influence on your life. Vastu literally means ” house” or Dwelling Place and its principles establish to create a harmony between the five elements viz. Earth, Sky, Fire, Water and Air, in the environment.

Vastu Shastra unifies the science, art, astronomy and astrology, it can also be said as an ancient mystic science for designing and building. Vastu Shastra helps us to make our lives better and will secure from things going wrong.

Vastushastra is an ancient building science which covers the philosophy and theory of Architectural works to construct any building and as well as living style of people. Vastushastra is based on various natural energies, which are available free cost in atmosphere like:

  • Solar Energy
  • Lunar Energy
  • Earth Energy
  • Sky Energy
  • Electric Energy
  • Magnetic Energy
  • Thermal Energy
  • Wind Energy
  • Light Energy
  • Cosmic Energy

Utilization of such energies gives us pleasure, peace, prosperity and money etc. in our life.

Nowadays we are have National Building codes, which gives us certain regulations to construct building, whereas in past our ancestors [had] Vastu Shastra as a religious & rigourics code. As per shastra Vastu Purush is god of building science, hence let us pray.

Vastu is rational, as it is scientific, it is permanent as it is based on directions and directions are unchangeable. It is beneficial as it is a bridge between man, material and nature, and above all it is practical, as it is very simple to follow. Build your house according to the guidelines provided by vaastu and lead a healthy and happy life.

Vastu can be used for every room, every house, every temple, every shop industry, town planning, tour, cities and even for earth. Vastu can be used for micro as well as for macro level.

Every creature on earth starts its life with sunrise as it performs day & night. Hence there is much importance of sun in every one life. It gives ultra violet rays in the morning and infra red rays in the evening to reduce or generate bio-chemical germs, N2/ Oxygen / CO2 on earth.

Sun indicates light (illumination) will power, generosity, solar system, luck or fate, mobility. In the body it rules over bone, eye, heart, spinal cord, blood circulation and [spirit] etc. Hence, the east direction is auspicious, as it belongs to lord Indra. North is considered auspicious since magnetic lines of forced energy moves from North to South, thus it represents the origin of all the life.

There are three forces in action to create harmony. Wind, water and fire – vaayu, jal and Agni. If these forces are kept in their appropriate places, then there will be no disturbance. But if water is put in place of fire and wind in place of water, or any other combination, the forces will start acting accordingly and create disharmony and unpeacefulness.

Vastu Dosha and Remedies

Vaastu is a complete understanding of direction, geography, topography, environment and physics. The more we [become] modern the more we [move] away from the Vedas, thus facing all the problems in the life. Impulsive planning and unorganised architectural methods have led to the basic problem today, i.e. DISHARMONY. In all, Vastu is a bridge between man and nature.Vastu is not a religion, it’s a science of setting the things correctly and balance the five elements – that is Earth, fire, water, space, and air – to have the maximum benefit out of life. If your house or work place is violating any principle of vastu, that is a Vastu dosh.

A Vastu dosh can be corrected through the changes in the rooms, through interiors of the house, by changing the placements, by using regulators or using some charged objects. Every vastu dosh has some remedy and if taken properly, the happiness and peace comes back in the life again.
